Welcome to my blog!

In this blog I will be posting about the lessons that I do with my elementary art classes.

The first semester we talked about Africa in all of my classes.
Here are some of our projects.
Kindergarten and first grade learned about the Ndebele paineted houses in South Africa.
They designed and painted their own houses using symmetry.
Second and third graders learned about African masks.
They created symmetrical masks using white paint and warm colored chalk.
Fourth and fifth grade learned about African dancing and drumming.
They had a lot of fun showing off their dance moves and posing for the other students to draw.
They incorporated all of the principles of design into their drawings.
We also looked at Keith Haring's work for inspiration.
